First Medical Stimulator for Women
Before, During and After Childbirth
|
|
'For effective pain relief during labour a TeNS unit requires the electrical current to penetrate the skins natural resistance - 1000 to 1500 Ohms. The Cefar Femina can penetrate this resistance and maintain a current of up to 60 mA with a change in load of 100 to 1500 Ohms. Unfortunately many models currently on the market only produce 500 Ohms resistance resulting in a less effective and spasmodic pain relief. |

Program 1: Pain Relief Childbirth |
|
This program is used with the handswitch so you can control your own pain relief. By pressing the button you switch between basic stimulation (between contractions) and intensive stimulation (during contractions). Cefar clinical trials show that the Femina is extremely effective in the early stages of labour. In the latter stages you may wish to combine your Femina with another form of pain relief. Femina works well with all forms of pain relief with no side effects |

Cefar Tip:
Get acquainted with your Femina: Whilst the unit is very easy to use we recommend mothers start using the Femina a few weeks before their delivery date. This gives you the opportunity to understand how TeNS should feel. You are therefore more likely to achieve the right levels of intensity for your most effective pain relief.

Program 2: During & After Pregnancy |
This program can be used whenever you feel pain in your pelvis, back, neck or shoulders during and after pregnancy. These kinds of pain are common during pregnancy due to the increased strain on your body and hormonal changes. Femina provides effective relief from these pains and may sometimes be sufficient on its own. It can also be used as a valuable compliment to other forms of treatment, e.g. physical exercise.

Cefar Tip:
When you start breastfeeding, the body reacts with after-contractions of the uterus. This can be as painful as contractions experienced during delivery and your Femina can provide immediate pain relief. Place 2 electrodes on the area of pain and start stimulation before each breastfeeding session. The placement of the electrodes should be lower back or groin area.
|
Program 3: During & After Pregnancy |
This program can be used during pregnancy and following birth when muscles are tense. A common reaction to stress and strain on the body is muscular tension, often located in the back, neck or shoulders. The Femina massage program induces muscle vibrations that will help tense muscles relax and improve circulation

Cefar Tip:
This will be one of your favourites. A very enjoyable and relaxing program which will help reduce your stress levels, anytime, anywhere
|
Program 4: During & After Pregnancy |
This program can be used to relieve tired and swollen legs which usually occur in the latter stages of pregnancy. These symptoms can also arise from standing or sitting in one position for a long period of time. The Femina produces a muscular pumping effect that increases circulation in the pelvic area and lymphatic systems. This helps removal of waste products and excessive fluids from the treated area.

Cefar Tip:
This product is also very effective during and after long haul flights. Good to know that when you return to normality your Femina will still be with you.
|
Program 5: After Pregnancy |
This muscle stimulation program is designed to get you back in shape after giving birth. To restore your body to its pre-pregnancy shape you have to do exercises that strengthen your back, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles. The Femina induces muscle contractions that will help you regain muscle strength, vigour and elasticity. For best results use your Femina in conjunction with an exercise program.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can Anyone Use EMS?
A: People with implanted electronic equipment, such as pacemakers and intracardial defibrillators, must NOT be treated with electrical stimulation. Pregnant women should NOT use electrical stimulation during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy
Q: When can I Start Using Tens during my Pregnancy?
A: There are no medical studies showing Tens to be unsafe to use in the beginning of pregnancy. However to be completely safe we recommend that you start using Tens after the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Then you can use your Femina regularly to get to know your stimulator and also to get in good shape for delivery.
Use the stimulator for your aching back and other pains during your pregnancy and start the stimulation at home as soon as the contractions begin. Remember that you can use Tens for afterbirth pain and post caesarean pain as well.
Q: Where do I Place the Electrodes?
A: Place the electrodes in the painful area. Try different electrode placements until the stimulation covers the whole painful area. Use 2 or 4 electrodes depending on the location of the pain and the size of the area you want to cover. A distance of 3 to 30 cm between the electrodes is recommended.
Q: Where Should I NOT Place the Electrodes?
A: Do not place electrodes directly over the uterus or connect pairs of electrodes across the abdomen. The reason is that, theoretically, the current could affect the foetus's heart (although there are no reports of it being harmful).
If you have pain in the front, it is better to place one of the electrodes in the groin area, and the other electrode (on the same cord) on the outer part of the hip or on the back. This placement is safe, since two electrodes connected to the same cord always work together.
Q: Can Tens be Used During CTG Monitoring?
A: External CTG monitoring will never interfere with Tens. However if a scalp electrode is used, Tens may cause interference with the CTG monitor (depending on the equipment). In this case, you have to turn off the stimulator temporarily.
Q: For How Long Does the Electrodes Last?
A: The self adhesive electrodes last for approximately 20 to 40 uses. The durability depends on how good the care and maintenance instructions are followed.
Q: Are There any Side Effects with Electrical Stimulation?
A: No Tens stimulation is completely safe without any side effects for the mother or unborn baby
