Cefar Medical Stimulators
Brief Explanation

Cefar Effective Electrotherapy Treatment

For successful meaningful treatment the complete treatment chain must work:

          • High Quality Stimulator and Accessories
          • Detailed Patient Information
          • Knowledgeable/Experienced Care Provider

Cefar Stimulators:
Electrotherapy equipment must provide correct and safe stimulation with sufficient power to penetrate both the skins and electrodes resistance - normally 1500 ohms.

Cefar Stimulators can safely handle resistance of 1500-2400 ohms with a retained current strength guaranteeing effective treatment.

Advantages of Quality Electrotherapy:
Electrotherapy exploits the body's own mechanisms. The body has its own sophisticated system for creating pain relief.  When we correctly stimulate nerve receptors, or actuate large muscle groups, pain is alleviated by the body's own pain control system.

TeNS and EMS are the most common methods used for pain relief and muscle stimulation.

TeNS/NMES Brief Explanation:
Medical Stimulators tend to utilize 2 forms of electrotherapy:

TeNS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation):
Extensively used for both acute and long term pain.
Conditions: Both Nociceptive and Neurogenic Pain

NMES (Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation):
Used successfully both in medical rehabilitation and as a compliment to physical training at all levels. The process stimulates motor nerves to create muscle contractions.

NMES achieves the best results when combined with active training of mobility strength, co-ordination and function.
